Tap tap tapping away? If it's on your computer and you're actually getting word counts done, stop reading now. If your fingers are tapping your desk and your word count sits at a very tiny number... well read on. It might not help your word count or writer's block, but it's a good use of your time since you're not doing anything else.
(This would be termed a non-helpful blog post. Next week I'll see what I can do about being more inspirational.)
Go to the Google homepage. Type in "do a barrel roll" and press enter.
That is all.
What are your favorite internet time wasters when you're supposed to be typing or brainstorming?
I love playing Bejeweled Blitz when I should be writing. The minute games really show me how much time I've actually spent procrastinating!
It used to be if you typed "Miserable Failure" into Google and clicked the "I'm feeling lucky" button, it would bring up a biography for George Bush. Things like that keep me entertained for hours.
I was not expecting that. I love it.
My biggest time waster is probably Twitter. I read about everyone else's progress while I delay mine even longer.
Reading, reading, and more reading. But I don't consider it a time suck as much as research :)
I love Mahjong games, and on my previous computers, I wasted untold hours on Solitaire games and Tetris.
I just watched my google screen flip, lol!
Query shark, especially the bad ones. It makes me feel a little better.
On an unrelated note, this made me think of you:
You Tube - definitely You Tube.
XD Goodness, I even gave up solitaire for NaNo.
And now I'll be on Google.
Barrel-rolling all day long.
(I already got over half my word-count done for the day...that's a good enough excuse to mess around on Google, right?)
1. Go to Google Maps and click on "Get Directions." 2. Enter "USA" as your start point. 3. Enter "Japan" as your destination. 4. Go to the 31st point on your route. 5. Laugh
